Online Portfolio using 360 spherical panorama

Hi,

I'd just like to share my website www.milotimbol.com. It's a virtual tour and an online portfolio.

Here are the flash plugins I used

I wanted to put a pageflip plugin but the one i like is for sale.

As for the highlights on the images I used

I used YUI javascript framework. It's responsible for the floating windows.

It's amazing what you can do when you combine krpano with javascript! krpano makes us look good! thanks klaus!

Let me know what you guys think of this.

P.S.
I have had this website for almost a year and its only now that I finally put something in it I just hope my monthly bandwidth doesn't exceed because I have the cheapest hosting plan *smile*

Milo,

That is a very interesting idea. Props for coming up with that. Love the possibility to link icons from your PC's desktop! Very nice. May I try to some of your ideas in the future on my own site if you do not mind?

I like almost all the same TV shows you do but you are missing one of the best ... 24 !

Oh yeah and you do realize your Bully is sniffing the other dogs ass ! LOL

also could you have not created the floating windows with the HTML plugin that comes with krpano and not used java?

Sounds good but doesn't work on mi mac bookpro.. i get empty semi transparent fields popping up without content..

gonna check again tomorrow..

Yup I heard 24 is a great series but I haven't had time to watch it. I'll allot one day to watch season 1. Bully likes to sniff on other dogs butts, not only Geri's. *g*

Yup you could the idea, but don't use windows desktop, make it OSX. haha

Using html inside flash has limitations.

So what I did was have divs appear on top of the krpano object. It's styled using normal CSS, so you could put any styling in it.

But I'll be glad to share info on how to use YUI and other javascript stuff.

I just realize now my shots are very dark *sad*

. Anyway, I'll take better ones and replace them later. It seems I'm a better programmer than photographer *tongue*

Milo I have recently come across the need to have a floating window like you have. I would like to display a short video clip in a window with no menu and all the crap that an HTML window has. Can you share the code you used to accomplish that? I have downloaded YUI but cannot really figure out what I am doing in there. Do you use MSN messenger by chance?

Graydon is right 24 is addictive. It is one of the only shows i have ever watched that at the end of each episode i find myself sayin "holy shit i cant wait till next week" it is way better to watch on DVD or DVR it for a few weeks and watch them all at once. Only show that can compete with 24 is LOST in my opinion. And this season of 24 is great!

@milotimbol, You have a interesting portfolio site. I hope good luck with it.

I dont want to bother you but, this kind of usage can be good for internet based solutions, but if you want to distribute this as an offline project (i mean a work like this for a customer who wants this in internet and also as an offline CD) we cannot use the browser based frameworks like YUI. Actually this may be just my problem or others like me that want to find a common way for online and offline distribution of the same virtual tour work. So your model is not suitable for my works, i need to use all of these flash files(galleries, iZoom, pageflip) in krpano.swf But this is not easy sometimes. May be one day, we can use krpano in another flash files (i read something about it from one of klaus' posts actually *smile*

)

Anyway, I am not criticising your work, just trying to draw attantion and find a common solution for using different combinations of virtual tour applications (such as gallery, pageflip, etc that you can imagine to use in krpano) for both offline and online. I just want to kill two birds with one stone *smile*

If there is an another way, i really want to hear.

BTW i am happy to see a programmer playing with krpano too ;-)

Yah. I never distributed an offline work before because so far I have 0 clients. haha *g*

. You're right about some stuff there, the yui scripts can be downloaded, I just opted to get the one hosted in yahoo servers. but the google map part definitely has to be online.

Java has compressed deployable file for web applications (.war). But you'll need java installed and i'm not sure if would actually work with a website like mine(I'd have to remove online features like google map), and you have you're files exposed because .war is just a zip file renamed to war. *tongue*

. Going executable is probably the best way. No setup and files are hidden and protected.

If i start getting clients I know I'm gonna have think about that soon but for now YUI is the way to go! (atleast for me) *smile*

. Btw here's another website im working on www.360philippines.com . Again I used YUI. the panos are low resolution so that they'd load quick.
