multires for mobile

I'm not sure if this is possible, but I would love to display multi-res gigapixels with all of their detail on iPhone's and iPads.
After spending a lot of time on the forum, it seems that this feature isn't currently available. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

That feature really isn't available for gigapixels. HOWEVER, Hans as been using a sort of multires for quite a while and seems to be doing well with it. He recently posted a question regarding its use here though.
