Creating a freeform linear "hotspot"?

  • Hi,

    I have a nice mountain pano and what I want to do is create a linear route on the image as a hotspot (mountain trail).

    How could I create such a hotspot to depict the route of a mountain trail? Is this something that is already possible?

    Cheers,

    Stuart

  • You can do this... but not in a true "linear" fashion.

    You can create a hotspot that looks linear by creating a regular polygonal hotspot that just has all of the point really close to each other... you might be able to overlay the spots to create a "line" but if not, just offset them by a few decimal values.

    I played around with this sample... http://www.krpano.com/krpano.html?pa…leiongarten.xml ... using the editor and got the result shown below.

    Here are the points used...

    Code
    <!-- going one direction -->
    <point ath="-50.0462" atv=" -1.8125" /> 	<!-- point 1a -->
    <point ath="-35.7537" atv="-15.1058" /> 	<!-- point 2a -->
    <point ath="-29.8042" atv="-42.2270" /> 	<!-- point 3a -->
    <!-- and now going back -->
    <point ath="-30.0085" atv="-42.2203" />	<!-- point 3b -->
    <point ath="-36.3461" atv="-15.0835" />	<!-- point 2b -->
    <point ath="-50.2103" atv=" -2.3746" /> 	<!-- point 1b -->

    To add the editor plugin, see here... http://www.krpano.com/plugins/editor/

    You can highlight, copy and past into your xml code as needed.

    If you find the editor plugin is not getting you on the trail as you want it... you can try something like the "crosshairs" addition that I described here... http://www.krpano.com/forum/wbb/inde…D=3390#post3390

  • Hi guys,

    Thanks for you feedback. I fiddled around and made my linear hotpsot example. You can see some yellow climbing routes at: http://www.alpinefish.com

    I just threw the hotspots together - what I´ll do later is edit the points in the xml so that the sides of the polygon sit on top of each other create a nice multipoint linear hotspot.

    Cheers,

    Stuart

  • Hi,

    That was my first attempt at a "gigapan" using my gigapan robotic head. And, since I know next to nothing about photography, I set exposure and focus on the big white shiny mountain in the far left and, surprise surprise, it looks fine, but the main image is pretty dark. I guess I also didn´t have exposure lock on. You live and learn :)

    I´ll experiment again soon and see if I can take a better image from same location without the banding. By the way, the image is near Berchtesgaden - noted for Hitlers hideaway - but is actually a beautiful national park. I plan a whole bunch of multi-res 360s and gigapans throughout the national park in the summer and then I´ll build a virtual park (or so my deluded mind thinks at the moment - a little thing called work keeps intruding :) ).
