Creating a freeform linear "hotspot"?

Hi,

I have a nice mountain pano and what I want to do is create a linear route on the image as a hotspot (mountain trail).

How could I create such a hotspot to depict the route of a mountain trail? Is this something that is already possible?

You can do this... but not in a true "linear" fashion.

You can create a hotspot that looks linear by creating a regular polygonal hotspot that just has all of the point really close to each other... you might be able to overlay the spots to create a "line" but if not, just offset them by a few decimal values.

try setting the alpha on the lines to .75 or something that would make them slightly transparent and might help them look like they are in the map and not on top of it.

lines as hotspots..

Hi guys,

Thanks for you feedback. I fiddled around and made my linear hotpsot example. You can see some yellow climbing routes at: www.alpinefish.com

I just threw the hotspots together - what I´ll do later is edit the points in the xml so that the sides of the polygon sit on top of each other create a nice multipoint linear hotspot.

looks good. zommablilty is nice. did you have exposure lock set? i see some wierd banding in the blue skys.

Linear hotspot and my dubious photograhpy..

Hi,

That was my first attempt at a "gigapan" using my gigapan robotic head. And, since I know next to nothing about photography, I set exposure and focus on the big white shiny mountain in the far left and, surprise surprise, it looks fine, but the main image is pretty dark. I guess I also didn´t have exposure lock on. You live and learn :)

I´ll experiment again soon and see if I can take a better image from same location without the banding. By the way, the image is near Berchtesgaden - noted for Hitlers hideaway - but is actually a beautiful national park. I plan a whole bunch of multi-res 360s and gigapans throughout the national park in the summer and then I´ll build a virtual park (or so my deluded mind thinks at the moment - a little thing called work keeps intruding :) ).
