This is my primary feature request, right now....
full panovideo in HTML5 - iOS

Hi, do you mean being able to watch the 360 video on a web page, or with an iOS app ? I'm afraid mobile Safari doesn't support this at this time, so that would be a request to Apple Inc. . Since it doesn't support Flash, the only other option would be webGL which is not supported either in iOS (except for iAdds ) ... I doubt the css 3D transform technic would work efficiently for a 360 video, especially if it is in equirectangular projection ... Did you try packaging Krpano with Air as an iOS app ?
-
Air? iOSapp??
How?
:-O -
I can only tell you that it worked on Android, as I don't have experience trying this on iOS yet.
How ? Embed krpano in the AIR App just like you would do in a Flash application. -
Hmmmmm.
I will have to discover what AIR is!!
I'm a panoramicphotographer, panohead designer and camera hacker...
On other fields I really miss the basis! :-O
THANK YOU! I will discover and try.
---edit
OK, I installed AIR, but that is not a software, I mean something-with-a-gui-that-allows-you-to-do-things. I installed it and it disappeared (it is not in my start menu)
I tried to read on the internet, but despite me speaking 4 languages, and info being in english, italian etc. I could understand NOTHING. -
Sorry, I didn't realize you didn't know what AIR was.
QuoteI guess you have installed the runtime that allows you to run AIR applications. An AIR application would be developed in AS3 and packaged for the target platform. This could be done with the Flash CS5, Flash Builder , or maybe other IDE's like FDT. You'll most likely find it troublesome if you're not comfortable with AS3 development. Feel free to ask if you need help, I'm curious on how krpano perfoms in an AIR application on iOS, and I'm looking forward to experiment with that too.

Just to give an idea ... I just tested krpano packaged in an AIR app as a 360 video player on a Galaxy Tab 10.1
I get about 4 FPS with a screen size @ 800x1232 pixels. My "pano.flv" is 1440x720 pixels, 25 fps, 1600kpbs (variable bitrate).
edit :
Actually, I got 10fps when switching the to "gpu" in the AIR application description file . That might be worth considering for whoever uses krpano in "embeddedStartup" mode ... I guess playing with different video encoding formats would make a difference too. Finally, I made a simple test 360-video-player android-app using Away3D 4.0, which is using flash's stage3D latest hardware acceleration ... and I got only 4~6 fps with the same video file ... -
uhm... 4fps is very low, but it is something!!
I'm afraid that adobe air apps are really away from my knowledge and capacity. My wish is for a "make it app" in a kind of krprotect -
Actually, the app was running smoothly on my desktop workstation, and using krpano in an AIR app for Android seems to work pretty smoothly for regular virtual tours too ...
But 360 video is a bit more ressource intensive. -
hi officinepanottiche.....there is a browser for ipad and iphone that allows y to visualize flash content on these devices....it´s call "Photon Flash Player Browser for iPad"...i´ve downloaded it on an iPad 2...and visualize the video pano of krpano site in fullscreen mode.....also is possible to visualize panoflipbook with fpp viewer...so it´s worth to have it

http://www.officinepanottiche.com/test/300e/panovideo-640.htmlNils, the thing looks promising!
I'll speak about air with the developer that sometimes help us. thanx!!!!!Luca.

hi officinepanottiche, i attach screenshots of the ipad2 displaying your videopano using photon flash player browser

Bought and tried...
somewhat works.
"somehow"
iPad is a stretched phone, not a computer -
what do y mean with "somehow" ? have y changed the cursor mode and use the one of the right side in order to pan&tilt fluently?
-
-
hi, imge, thanx! it hungs time to time, it scatters and it is not clear how to use it (the flash interface of the browser itself). May be good to show to others, but unacceptable for most common dummies.
Nils, nice to see it works!! I worked hard on video compression and downloading in pieces. Happy to know it works in china too!

Thanx mate!
Every single project and pano has its own life. I lost the count of the tricks I used here, but the lens was the 10.5... shaved and locked at f6.3. I used it vertically, horizontally, etc etc.Ha,ha,I awaited such an answer.
Wery well done.
