krpano tools 1.0.8.15 not working on PPC

  • Hello,

I have just installed the latest build of krpano tools 1.0.8.15 (32bit)
and it is not working on my PowerBook G4 running OSX 10.5.8 with 1.67
    GHz PowerPC G4 chip.

I get the message "You can't open the application "MAKE PANO (MULTIRES)
droplet.app" because it is not supported on this architecture." Also, in
the 'Get Info' menu, it says "Kind: Application (Intel).

Is it supposed to work on my computer?

    Thanks,
    Bags

  • Hi,

the krpano Tools (for 32bit Mac) itself are Universal Binaries, that means they run on Intel and PPC Macs, but the Droplets are not, they are Intel-only at the moment.

Some time ago I have updated my Mac development/build system from OSX 10.6 to 10.7 and it seems that the 10.7 AppleScript Editor is no longer creating Universal Binaries (I didn't noticed that).
The Droplets itself are just small text scripts, so it's a bit strange that Apple had made them processor depended...

I have still a MacBook with 10.6 left for testing - I will try to update/rebuild the Droplets there to make them again to Universal Binaries.

As manual workaround you could try the following:

    1. Start the AppleScript Editor
    2. Open one of the krpano Droplets
    3. And Save it via 'Save As' and overwrite the original file

Then the Droplet should be an Universal Binary again and work.

    Best regards,
    Klaus
