i think style is not there anymore after parsing. And you can not use it as a name ?
Or was it working before.
Why would you trace the style of a layer in the first place?
to use it in like:if style == gold,.....?

Yes, it was working before. I was changing styles but only if the styles was not the same as it currently is.
I've duplicated the style attribute with some success, but it's a lot of code to go through.
you could always set a dummy attribute stylename="gold"
<style name="gold" stylename="gold"
and compare that.
This is what I've done. It wasn't fun.
