yes it's possible
use
showgallery(GALLERY_NAME,IMAGE_INDEX);

will open gallery and open image with given index (index started from 0)

update ?

Is there any update to this plugin I'm on the first version (2012 i think)

is there anyway of a hotspot going to a spacific image

i did try

but could not get it to work
