How to set FOV when projectiong on a cylinderical surface?

  • HI,

We are helping a client to install a projection system on a concaved cylindrical wall, with radius of 2m & HFOV =180 degree. With multiple projectors and some edge blending software, we managed to get the browser looking nicely on the curved screen, however, the content inside krpano with this wide angle screen look very strangely: the width of an object will be very wide if it approach to the edge of the screen, say, a box was looking like 10px at screen center may became 100px when the screen pan and the object approach to the edge of screen.

We've tried to set fov="175" fovtype ="HFOV" maxpixelzoom="1.0", but it was just a little better than the normal setting. we would like to let viewer to feel it "real" when they are standing at the center of the screen. any help is appreciated, thanks.

  • Hi,

That's not strange, that's the normal perspective/rectilinear projection distortion

You could maybe try to play with the fisheye/fisheyefovlink/stereographic/pannini settings... but basically, krpano wasn't made to project panos on non-flat screens...

    Best regards,
    Klaus
