Hi,
there is a new krpano tool out - the krpano Testing Server!
The krpano Testing Server should help when testing Flash or HTML5 locally / offline.
When using local files (this means files with file:// paths), then there several Flashplayer
and browser related (security-)restrictions that prevent the full working.
Some of these local-usage restrictions:
- Flashplayer
- No Javascript interface.
- No correct mouse-wheel handling in many cases.
- No openurl() action.
- No Bing / Google maps.
- HTML5
- No xml file loading in Chrome and IE10.
The krpano Testing Server is a small and simple localhost server. It allows accessing
the files via (http://) server addresses and so to bypass these local restrictions.
The tool serves only static files - that means there is no support for server-side scripting like PHP.
Usage
To use it, just start it, select a folder and then access the folder via
the server-address from any computer or device in the local network.
And to stop the server, simply close the tool.
Features
- Easy to use:
- Just select a local folder and ready.
- Or simply drag and drop local folders or html files.
- Automatic restart with the previously selected local folder.
- Can run minimized-to-tray in background (Windows-only).
- Download-speed simulation for testing slower Internet-connections (with several typical presets).
- Optionally send No-Caching headers to avoid browser-side caching. This can be very helpfully during testing when constantly changing some files.
- Server requests logging.
- Nice looking and mobile/tablet-friendly directory listing.
Download
The krpano Testing Server is available for Windows and Mac as separate download here:

It will be also included in the download packages of the next krpano versions.
Best regards,
