I installed the vr plugin, but the problem is that it's not making the head tracking....

Maibe the problem was the way of installing the plugin... I don't know much about mac, so I was looking for how to run the install.sh, and the process was :

- right click
- get info
- open with terminal

when I open a project it doesn't advice me that I have to install the plugin, but no tracking at all....

Hi,

I have tested the Oculus Rift only on PC, there installing the NPVR plugin was easier...

Try these things:
  • after installing the plugin completely restart the browsers
  • try using Chrome or Firefox
  • the Oculus Rift can be used only by one program at one time, that means make sure that there is no other Oculus Rift programm or browser running at the same time
  • attach the Oculus Rift USB cable before starting the browser

Best regards,
Klaus

KRPano 3D + NVIDIA 3D Vision

Would KRPano 3D work with NVIDIA 3D Vision?
NVIDIA 3D Vision supports SBS, but I'd just like to confirm.

Hi, turr !

I've got it installed in a mac mini, but even that no way of making it work...

I remember I had to open the install.sh with the terminal, I didn't have it set up properly, so I just did a "open with" terminal to files with sh extension.

Then you can go on your safari and check that is already installed.

Hope you can get it working soon...

I also did installed in some windows, but in some cases I could not, maibe it have to do with hardware requirements...

Keep us informed...

3D Stereo in 3D-Vision

Would KRPano 3D work with NVIDIA 3D Vision?
NVIDIA 3D Vision supports SBS, but I'd just like to confirm.

Hello Ivan,

To the best of my knowledge, full HD with 3D Vision is not possible, somebody needs to write a browser plugin to enable sending two full width screens to the video card from a web browser for html content, currently its only possible to use half height or half width compressed frames. For passive 3D tv's it is a moot point, using half height compressed frames delivers the highest resolution in 3D that the passive 3D tv can deliver (tv's like LG), and with this target it is definitely better to use the half height mode as otherwise it would decrease resolution by another 50%.

For an active shutter glasses tv, two complete HD frames need to be delivered to the TV for each field scan. Nvidia does have a plugin to do this with browsers for video, but I am not aware of the ability to do so with html content. Here is the documentation page for the 3Dvision plugin: http://www.3dvisionlive.com/3dapps , where I can only find reference to video frames.

This will work with 3Dvision however, just not full HD on active shutter glass screens (but you wont notice as its still quite wow effect).

I would love to stand corrected on this issue and have been in contact with Nvidia engineers without resolution.

Actualy i think this whole krpano+oculus thing, which is great, only has a chance when..
Or the brouwsers all gonna support that npvr plugin or something similar by default.
Or
The plugin is, brouwser independent, in the krpano html/js file included that the user downloads when he visit the link.

I'm afraid otherwise it's only as a gadget which you could show to a client or play with yourself... For the time being.

Am i right? And is that possible?

Is´nt it a gadget in any case? ;-)
You can count the number of persons who do own a VR-Device on one hand, so why should Apple, MS or FF should support it by default?! I really do hope that the occulus rift won´t come and go like the VFX1 did. But I don´t think that VR will become a mass-product *mellow*

I think you are right nupsi,
What i thought, but i'm not an expert on that terrain, that it would be nice when that npvr plugin or something similar was build in in krpano. So you just visit the krpano stereo link and use the oculus.. Nothing with installing extra plugins etc..

But i have no clue if that is possible, and if that is gonna work at the end at all.
It would make it, for people with the device far more easy to just enjoy our stereo panos and normal ones.

The effect is overwelming, no discussion about that.

Yes!
I'm not sure, when it exactly happend though.
I did what you suggested. Open that sh file in the terminal.
When i looked in the library/internetplufins i see the plugin there.
It seems that FF is the only one that uses those.
Is there any plugin control in safari?
I have to check again and more though.

I also tried a few times to make a wine app for this, but i think this was not the thing that created that npvr plugin in my library..
Not sure though.

That's technically not possible.
A web-script like krpano can't communicate directly with an USB-device (yet), so the VR plugin is needed as interface.

Klaus
