Same version, same problem, I don't understand why. *confused* I tried a lot of ideas, nothing works... *cry*
Maybe installed a wrong way...
The old NPVR plugin should be removed/uninstalled.
And use the 64bit plugin only for 64bit browsers, for 32bit browsers use the 32bit plugin of course.
And use the new krpano stereo3d examples.
Try fully closing and restarting the browser after plugin install.

Do you have any idea of the release date
Sorry, but as always - there will be no release dates!
It will be released when ready.

Best regards,
Klaus

guys !

i have a prolem with the oculus rift implementation
as soon as the computer detects the oculus it shifts the both eyes view (left to the left and the right to the right )
result is that not both eyes are looking to the same point which make my view distorted
any ideas how i could fix that ????

Maybe installed a wrong way...
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS !

You were right, Klaus !!! *cry* *blink* *wacko* (as often, it seems...)

I was convinced that my Chrome Browser was the 64 bits version, so I installed the 64bits NPVR version... But it was the 32 bits version, and it works much better with the appropriate NPVR.

The quality is much better than with DK1, and you had a very good idea to upload a "complete" virtual tour, with "timed hotspots" on this link http://krpano.com/stereo3d/krpano-stereo3d-v3.zip .

Do you know if someone has developped a skin with this implementation, I mean : "I keep the center of the view on a hotspot, it opens a window, so you don't need to click"

I noticed 2 points during the install, maybe this can help other users.

- It doesn't work (for me) in local, I had to upload the files on my server to make it work.

- As explained in the first lines of the rift.xml file (within the downloable archive), the settings are different if you have DK1 or DK2 :

<img src="http://static.zooomez.fr/medias/oculus/divers/DK1-DK2.jpg" alt="DK1-DK2.jpg" title="DK1-DK2.jpg" style="font-size: 0.8em;" />

(Don't know why the image is not diplayed in the message, here is the direct link : http://static.zooomez.fr/medias/oculus/divers/DK1-DK2.jpg)

When I tried my DK1 compatible panos, it was very weird because of these default settings.

I don't know if it could be possible to detect which DK is used to change dynamically these settings ? If not, I will make 2 folders...

Here are some of our panoramas "DK2 compatibles". We have lot more to upload, I'll make some thematics virtual tours as soon as possible and an interface to choose without removing the Oculus. If someone knows a software to make easily a very simple Oculus interface, let me know !

Sometimes, I don't know why, one of the cubic faces remains black, just press F5 to update.

Samsung Gear VR with Krpano - Stereo 3D questions

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has experience with the Samsung Gear VR and Samsung Note 4 with the KRPANO Stereo 3D panorama viewing setup? I would like to get an understanding on the challenges and merits of this exciting new hardware in regards to viewing stereo panoramas. My similar experience is limited to a Nexus 5 cardboard setup.

The GearVR is a stereo viewing headset built by Samsung in collaboration with Oculus. A Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phone is mounted within the headset to provide a mobile Oculus Rift like experience for virtual reality gaming and media viewing. The Note 4 features a high resolution 2600x1600 AMOLED screen with very fast response times. The Gear VR headset has built in gyroscope/accelerometer/magnetometer sensors for motion tracking (yaw/pitch/roll) and communicates with the Samsung Note 4 phone via a USB connection. The software applications currently available for the GearVR have motion attitude tracking being done on the GearVR's hardware, not the phones internal sensors, presumably because the external sensors do a better job.

Question: How would the software connection between the GearVR hardware and the Krpano Javascript be made in browser? The RIFT.HTML is for desktop browsers, which can have plugins to reach external hardware VR.JS plugin, while the Cardboard MOBILEVR.HTML uses the mobile devices internal motion hardware though javascript api hooks. Does the Note 4 possibly have a special web browser with javascript api hooks for communicating with external motion sensors? Is it necessary to build an application through the Oculus Mobile SDK in order to link with the external GearVR hardware, (which would make each stereo panorama viewing experience an 'AP' rather than the open web)?

My experience with the Samsung Tab S 8.4 tablet, which has a similar glorious display, was that the devices built in motion sensors were absolute garbage. When tried with the krpano MOBILEVR.HTML setup, I experienced the worst motion attitude tracking I have ever used on a mobile device! Compared to a Nexus 5 phone, which has good sensor stability and motion tracking, the Samsung Tab S tablet jumps around everywhere and does not make for a believable experience. Does anyone have experience with the Samsung Note 4's internal motion sensors? (are they hopefully improved over the Tab S, so that external hardware access is not necessary for satisfactory panorama viewing with head tracking?) If the Note 4 has sensors on par with the Tab S and krpano can't reach external sensors, then this Gear VR setup is a non-starter for satisfactory stereo panorama viewing.

Any krpano user reviews on the Gear VR would be most welcome. Is the screen resolution, latency and image stability significantly better than afforded by a Nexus 5 Cardboard setup (which is pretty good!)? How does it compare to the experience provided by the Oculus DK2?

Thanks *smile*

Hi! First of all, great work!
I have a little problem, maybe because I'm a newbie with the oculus rift.
I downloaded and installed the extension for chrome, and when I open a 3d view on chrome, I see on my monitor the splitted screen. If i move the oculus, this is correctly tracked and I see the images move following the direction of the oculus.
As I expected, in the direct-to-rift mode, the oculus is total black. I thought that the only working mode is the extended screen.
but in the extended mode, the screen of the oculus appear splitted as a normal monitor, so I see the left and the right image in both eyes.
Can anyone help me?

Thank you!

@ develipse
if i understood correctly i think you only need to click on full screen in the extended screen ( the one that is connected to oculus )to make both eyes of the oculus have the same view

hope it helps

There exists currently no HTML5/JS API to use the special GearVR hardware. Maybe one day with WebVR...
That means only the default browser APIs can be used - e.g. in krpano the gyro plugin.

Any krpano user reviews on the Gear VR would be most welcome. Is the screen resolution, latency and image stability significantly better than afforded by a Nexus 5 Cardboard setup (which is pretty good!)? How does it compare to the experience provided by the Oculus DK2?
I have already got a Note 4 for testing (but still waiting for the GearVR) - the resolution is better of course, but the latency and gyro accuracy is like in many other Android phones - very browser depended and not really good, but okay to use. Compared to cardboard usage, the overall VR experience is way better with a Oculus Rift DK1 or DK2.

Btw - there will be soon a new krpano version with direct VR support (=no two viewers anymore).

Best regards,
Klaus

Hi,
It works with Mozilla but i need to use it with chrome.
Chrome doesn't allow loading local xml files in HTML5.
Use the krpano Testing Server for local testing.

Klaus

Hi,
I'm using the mobileVR example and have a small issue with the gyro plugin :
when loading the first or a new scene the gyro always starts with a portrait orientation even if the device is in landscape orientation, so the panorama rotates 90° slowly before displaying landscape.
Is there a way to make it start landscape directly ?
here is an example : http://www.360images.fr/cardboard/louvre.html

Thanx !

Hi,
Is there a way to make it start landscape directly ?
That happens because of the current gyro implementation - and it is browser depended (Android only).

But there will be soon a krpano version with direct VR and stereoscopic support (and later also new gyro plugin) - there such will not happen anymore.

Best regards,
Klaus

A Cardboard menu with Krpano (I love Krpano ;)
http://www.360images.fr/parisvr/

Anyway I guess I'll have to learn Unity as access to gyro from a web broswer is much too slow...
