I have been using the Ricoh Theta S camera for capturing photos for the past year but have been asked about getting a better camera for more clarity in the photos. Any recommendations?

I've been using a Canon 5D mk2 with sigma 15mm fisheye for years, still really good quality, outputting as 7500x15000 pano's.
I'd be interested in hearing others views on latest options too

Another
for the Canon 5D mk2.
I have the older canon 15mm fisheye attached and can't fault either for image quality. I also use the same combo inside a Ikelite underwater housing with 8inch dome although not for 360's.
The menu is pretty crap on the camera so just install the Magic lantern software. The software gives you more options plus adds more than the dreaded default 3 bracketed shots.
Depends on your budget I guess. If you want to save cash I see the camera is now at MK 4 so people will upgrade and sell their old one.
I also have the Ricoh V which is fantastic for those hard to reach places and better than not having the shot at all.

Re Canon 5d Mk2 - I was told by canon that they are no longer supplying spare parts for this model.
I have two 5d mk2 bodies, once one breaks then I will upgrade, will probably go to the 6D.
For 360 stills main advantage would be having a greater bracketing range, as 5D mk 2 only does 3 at a time and I think 6D can be configured up to 7.

Hi, similar Theta price but best: Xiaomi Mijia Mi Sphere. But always is best srl camera, full sensor, fisheye lens.

The best are the Insta360Pro & the kandao

A few months ago we used the Insta360 pro camera to shoot our project.
Well, in our opinion - this is the best camera at the moment.
In the batch mode, this camera makes a series of 10 images with 8k resolution, and we use this great feature here
But GoPro Fusion seems highly promising for now. -
