The resolution (=number of pixels), the jpeg-compression and the image-content itself (low detail part compress better than high-detail part) are affecting the filesize.

No, these are settings for optionally generating additional smaller images for mobile only:

Today with better devices and multi-resolution support this is not necessary anymore.
