Hi all,

Woww such an update this is

i have made already quite some little tech studies, and more..
I made them not to be nice and beautiful etc.. but mostly to get my hands on, investigate, and play with new syntax and options etc..
Not sharing them all but here are a few.
Nothing special really, I hope someone has help from it.

All puppets do a loop of 4 time the animation. Tuurs are random, Mische is swicthing between 2

Glb models quickly done by der Mische, on the old computer. They are also quite big.. scaled down to 0.35 .. ios crashes. But good first fun.

In the 3D demo, there are some artifacts with shadows (missing, low resolution) if you move around. Any idea what causes them?

Besides it is quite heavy because of probably too many too large models, i also have been palying a bit with all those shadow settings.. and it can also be that the floor of the model is not 100% flat/horizontal..
Not sure though what causes this. I saw it too..

could be, not sure if that is needed..in the end it's all hotspots.. I'll investigate a bit.. maybe make an new example..I think it needs an update anyway.. but busy busy.. not so much time to focus on this kind of things.

I prefer to use R3F over the current krpano+threejs development approach. A physics engine can be used, and the code is more concise. Dislike native threejs, it takes too much code to implement a feature.

Probably too much memory need...
There is some ThreeJS caching enabled, but currently each 3D-model needs its own memory...
But there might be ways to improve that in future...

It works the same way as for layers or other elements.
Basically it works for all elements/objects and is independent of layer, hotspot or something else.

The ios crash is mainly because the model is too complex, it contains many parts, such as a basketball hoop contains 10+ parts. It's essentially Three.js, with no relation to Krpano. R3F just makes the code shorter because it packages some components. I just said I don't like the native Three.js because it's too complex, with many lines of code just to implement one function.

Hope that Krpano can also do something similar, by creating components with certain functions, similar to R3F Drei.

Welcome to the world of realtime 3D graphics with lights and shadows

I will try to explain that - that scene has 3 lights: one 'sun' light and two 'spot' lights.

The sun light is infinity far away and always only around the viewer/camera. That means the 'shadow map' of that sun light is automatically moving with the camera. So where ever you move, the sun can casts shadows on the objects near you. You can see such effect also in many video-games.

Spot lights are different and have a given source and target position. So their shadow-maps are also at given position and will not move.

And shadow-maps have a limited range and resolution. The resolution spans across the range. That means more range is fewer detail resolution. Both (range and resolution) can be set. For improving the visuals, the range and resolution could be increased, but that costs also memory and performance, so it's always a trade off. The defaults settings are on the lower side for better mobile compatibility:

Hi,

I had some hole in my blender knowledge (too long ago.. getting old )..

I can't even imagine creating a game) I'm only suitable for testing games hah)

At the moment I can't get enough of Apex Legends, superb game. When I get angry and the game doesn't work I use Apex Hacks. And I also play Fortnite sometimes.
