In theory if the view can not be zoomed, which would produce a cleaner, crisper image; as Single-Resolution or Multi-Resolution <image>?
Theoretical image quality

Depends on the viewer window-size and the fov and if the single-res or one of the multires-levels would match better.
That means either they are equal or multires is better. -
I'd like to take the opportunity of the topic on image quality to ask if you've done any tests on the use of webp instead of jpg (which seems to be supported by everyone now)?
I've noticed some weight savings for equivalent quality -

Any news about using webp instead of jpg for output tiles ? Compression quality is far better and lighter than jpg. For multires panos it would be a massive win

you can since 1.24 : krpano 1.24

Hi,
right, there is now WebP and JPEG XL support in krpano 1.24, but my tests don't show a "far better" quality or smaller files with WebP compared to classic JPEG, even with much slower encoding settings.
WebP tends to blur out fine details, and when increasing the quality and encoding settings to avoid that, there is no filesize win anymore compared to JPEG. But that's also a bit relative and depends on what quality/filesize ratio you find acceptable.
JPEG XL, on the other hand, can really be a win in filesize while keeping the same quality as JPEG.
In the end, the best approach is to do your own tests.
Both new formats offer a lot of settings to play with (but also note that encoding can quickly become much slower with higher settings):

Klaus: with .webp can we show real HDR panoramas on oled monitor for example?
