360 equipment 2025 for panoramas (only camera + lens, no accessories)

Hi, now in 2025... What camera and lens combination do you recommend for acceptable quality at the lowest price? New equipment, not used.

I'd like to be able to make panoramas with at least 4 photos. Currently, I need 7, not counting exposure variations. (Canon APS-C 1000d or 40d + Rokinon 8mm lens). On the other hand, I haven't seen single-shot cameras with the quality and features of a basic DSLR, or they are very expensive.

With this you will achieve the desired image size in any case and with 4 images.

Hi Woiferl, thanks for your answer but Canon RP is a full-frame camera that costs $800 USD. I'm looking for a solution with an APS-C sensor camera.

You would need a 4.5 mm lens with a crop camera. You would need a 4.5 mm lens with a crop camera. I hardly think that you find one. Have a look at https://panosociety.com/de/pages/panorama-shot-calculator and you will find what you need to calculate this.

I started with 5 horizontal photos as indicated in the table in the link and then I became a little conservative with 6. I need to continue investigating and testing, but I would also like to see examples from other people with a 4.5mm lens and an APS-C camera.

Samyang/Rokinon 7,5 is a very sharp lens and can be mounted on APS-C cameras with Nodal Ninja conversion kit.
Only 4 shots needed to cover 360

I use it on my lightweight setup when going hiking in the mountains on a Sony A5100.
The lens is designed for micro 4/3 sensors but works perfect on APS-C sensors with nodal ninja conversion kits on Fuji, Sony, Canon : https://www.nodalninja.com/cat/panoramic-…mounts/17#top_c
