efficient, large-scale, streamable gaussian-splatting engine

  • Dear community,

Together with my team, we’ve developed an engine that enables the visualization of virtually unlimited point clouds. The data is intelligently streamed through the browser – so you don’t need to download the entire model to view it. This makes it possible to smoothly display even massive datasets on both desktop and mobile devices.

What’s more, our engine has been designed with future support for Gaussian Splatting in mind. This will allow you to upload files of unlimited size and numbers of splats, without the need for time-consuming optimization for specific devices (like mobile).

We’d love to hear from you – the krpano community – would you be interested in a subscription service where your splat-based scenes are hosted on our servers (on individual user accounts) and displayed in krpano as an alternative to the current <splats> approach?

Your feedback would be incredibly valuable to us.

  • Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Implementing streamable Gaussians is quite challenging, so we’ve developed our own format for this approach. I understand that the subscription model may not be very convenient, but it does make conversion and implementation easier.

Would an engine for self-installation on your server work better for you (It would require the .splat/.ply to be converted into our format)?
