it doesnt really matter what kind of hardware you use for creating your panoramas. Panono seems to be a nice solution, but you still can do it the "old" way with a fisheye (8mm lens) and/or a tripod with a panoramic head (like "nodal ninja"). For shooting panoramas outside, take care of moving leaves and passing people. Thats why you should shoot fast and with a wide angle - or as you say with a construction which shoots every needed image at the same time like Panono does.
