I finally got around to experimenting)
I found out that UE5 is free, so I installed it and tried to unload the standard model to the krpano and see how the tour would work without the use of panoramas.)
Of course the intermediate stage was a blender, in which I used my own addon to add virtual cameras / viewpoints to the model, bake textures for the model (using as a texture image in png format, to be able to make transparent tests), and unloaded to krpano project.
Surprisingly crpano showed decent behavior with this model, which by the way has about 8-9k triangles.
The video shows an example of a standard tour with point-to-point transition, the same on the phone and the third video with free movement on the computer.
It's an interesting experience that got me thinking: using krpanos for tours without panoramas is a real thing)
