I would like to be able to embed a multiresolution image inside a multiresolution panorama. A feature that would allow you to do the types of compositions that Deep Zoom Composer allows you to do.
multires image in a multires pano

I was once again thinking of how useful this is. Just wanted to make sure it didn't drop off the radar.

Wouldn't this example: http://memorabilia.hardrock.com/ be something like falt pano where you prepare all images and store them as input for make pano droplet? Result would be the same I think. Didn't tried but I pretty much sure this would be similar output. Or?

Umalo,
Do you mean paste all the images into one document and then tile it? You would probably exceed what you could do w/ PSB in the hardrock example.
I am more interested in embedding a high res image inside another high res image. You can see an example we did here for the parks service, http://www.xrez.com/yose_proj/yose_deepzoom/index.html It was created to study rockfall in the valley but is also used every day by search and rescue. What they like about it is that they can very quickly navigate from detailed view to detailed view and see the same spot from multiple perspectives in seconds and plan accordingly.
The problem of creating a single flat image from your sources is more pronounced if you embed a high res image within another high res image. Imagine you want to just take a regular snapshot that is 4000 pixels across and embed another snapshot inside of it that was only going to take up 1% of the area. You would have to resize the top image to 400,000 pixels, these would wasted pixels since they would not contribute more detail. Of course if you add more levels or use a gigapixel source as we do the problem amplifies. You would very quickly end up in a situation where even if it were possible to author it you would not be able to store that number of tiles on your server. A nested approach like was used in silverlight makes more sense. Silverlight is going to go away as well, it will be sad for the parks to lose the resource we built for them, would be nice if we could do this type of content w/ KR Pano.

This is probably already possible.
Just call loadpano!
You zoom into the flat region, loadpano flat, zoomout, loadpano 360.
You'll just lose being able to look at the highest FOV for the flat image as that will trigger the return.
Or you could have a verify button or show a plugin to call loadpano. That would be more UI friendly. -
Hi,
supporting multires-panos inside other (multires-) panos was already considered when developing the new HTML5 multires viewer.
That means internally there is already a lot prepared for that. The more difficult part is how-to setup/include and manage such panos - I'm still exploring here - one possibility would be using/including them simply as 'distorted hotspot' - that should be easy to use and would already open many possibilities... An other difficulty is the Flash-support of such feature - e.g. would it still be worth implementing that in Flash too? Eventually this feature would be HTML5-only...
For 1.17 this might be not ready, but maybe for 1.18 or an other following version...
Best regards,
Klaus -
That is exciting news Klaus, personally I am not too concerned about a flash version working if there is an HTML 5 version.

An information: it is already possibile to embed a multiresolution flat image inside a
normal panorama?Thanks
