Hotspot style like Jumeira tour

Hi,
i think something like this. (sloppy and bare bone)
But there are more, different ways of doing it.
personally i would generate the hotspots etc on the fly.. etc..http://www.virtualtuur.com/krpano/hotspot_jumeira/

Thank you my friend! You are the best!
When you are ready the tour I will show you the result -
I´m sure Tuur just created this example as an proof of concept. Copying the effect 1:1 might be an infringement of copyright! Just saying....
Besides that, great work, Tuur, as always -
Hi,
well it was not that difficult. Of course i would advice to not copy the original 1:1
I made this just to show how it could be made. There are 'more ways to Rome' though. We all get inspired by others. And evolve and learn on that.
We call that evolution.
Because of the freedom and power of krpano we can do great stuff. Thanks to Klaus, but also the forum members.
Give and take.
I have such a list with things i still need to do and check and want to make. For a part inspired by others or parts of their design or feature development. It just works like that.
We always say: Bach played it all already. So should that stop the music?Of course you could discuss the (for example: GSV plugin) and others, about copying. or a bunch of tours that look almost the same.
Try to learn and do your thing with it. be original, at the end that will bring you much more.I am pleased with your compliments. In my opinion just basic stuff, which took me some time to figure out how to come to this particular result.
As always.. haha.Cheers!

Like you said, the coding is pretty straight forward for this one. But it´s a very clean and efficient way to achieve the desired effect. When something seems to be done within minutes but still looks unique and elegant then THAT´S what makes the difference between the worker and the artist! And that´s what I´m always aiming for in my work
And that´s also the reason why I´m maybe a little harsh when it comes to copying. It takes a long time to come up with something unique and remarkable these days to let it been used and sell by someone else. If my work inspires people to create something even better than that´s fine and I´m honored. But if someone just copy/paste my ideas to make quick money without any effort, I´m not pleased of course!
And the hotspot-design from "Point of view 360" is very unique and has a high recognition value. Something that should be respected in my opinion. But like I said, if it´s the inspiration for something new, that´s fine and like you said the way we evolve
Best regards,

Hi Nupsi,
yes, i fully agree.
Now, for me, the question is:
Should i provide such an example as asked or not. (Of course i could have point the 'asker' to documentation etc.. and let them swim)
But the fact i stepped into it is also a compliment for the 'father' of this thing.
When i do, i might make it too easy for others to go on the 'wrong' path by copying the 'unique' thing. At the end everybody is responsible for their own decisions. But i am not sure if it is unique. And also it is not possible to be sure in this case. ( i suppose)
When i don't provide an example, maybe somebody else will do, publicly or not, and at what point the evolution stops?
But the example could also be a step up for people to do something completely different with it, just as a way of coding protocol (or so)..
I'm in doubt a bit. As you know i'm open to help people almost always, and also like the code 'puzzles'.
But on the other side...
Maybe i should have make the example look very different, but with the same code? When i see something i like, design things or features, i ask or pick the things i like, try to remake it or come close, do my thing with it and use it. It is always a mix.. for everybody. Like Bach Like we all do. Some just copy paste, some are totally original all the time, the rest is in between. But it is all still the same stuff. Variations on a theme based on the same base for everybody.
When i did go to far to replicate this example i can easily take it away of course. But i also think in that case we can do 'nothing' to evolve.

Of course you should Analyzing and recreating such effects are major reasons to learn and enhance the own abilities! Like you said, everybody is responsible for their own decisions with all resulting consequences. Their is a huge difference between recreating something to enhance the knowledge or using (stealing) something to reduce the own effort while maximizing the profit. The other thing you mentioned, when is something unique or different enough to be considered as "new" or "evolved", is hard to put into strict rules. I like to believe that the phrase "You know it when you see it!" fits just fine. And of course creating a new hotspot like any other hotspot out there is NOT something that could be considered as unique. But in my opinion this particular hotspot-design from "Point of view 360" is! But that´s a question that everybody has to answer for themselves.
So in my opinion keep up your work! I´ve learned a lot from your examples and still do
Best regards,
Nupsi -
Hi,
Yeah!
We agree again! And thanks! I also learn a lot from it .. haha..
It's a complicated subject.
Let's talk it over in the 'Krpano Bar and Café' zipping this 52 year old 'Highlandpark' at the fireplaceCheers

How might I go about slightly adjusting your example, instead of expanding and contracting on a click, bur rather have a type of safe frame say 15% or 20% from edge of frame, and the label auto expands within this area, and contracts when outside that area?
-
Hi,
i'm unsure what you mean/want.
Willing to help, but i need to understand.Do you mean that when you click on the side of the red cube, that it triggers the action, and when i hover the center that it shows the text?
??

Hi Tuur
No I mean no clicking happens of the label. I mean when you pan around the pano, while the red cube is in the middle of the screen in view, it expands and open so you can see the text from the label. Then as you pan and the cube goes towards the edge of the browser screen, it contracts and closes the lable, so you'r left with only the cube again. So if you imagine a safe frame like in video production where logos or subtitles are close to the edge of frame, but not right on the edge. So basically the safe frame is about 10 to 20% from the edge. So while panning the pano, when cubes become in view, they stay closed until they enter the safe frame area, or middle of the screen so to speak, then they automatically close again when you pan more and they go outside the safe frame area

Any thoughts Tuur?

Hi,
QuoteAny thoughts Tuur?
yes many
Search for getlooktodistance on forum and docs.
https://krpano.com/docu/actions/#getlooktodistanceI think that is the way to go, when i understand you right.
